Helping you get the best from your Garden

"Your garden should be a pleasure rather than a worry or concern."

Experienced horticulturalist Tim Miles shares his knowledge and experience to enhance the enjoyment and satisfaction you can achieve from your garden. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or a novice, have a modest plot or extensive estate, I would like to help. I offer friendly digestible advice, and encouragement.
Bringing a fresh pair of eyes, I can be a sounding board for your thoughts, concerns and ideas, from which we can then develop an action plan.
Often some relatively minor tweaks and adjustments can make all the difference, rather than undertaking a major makeover.
I don’t usually undertake garden designing, but I can help you find someone suitable who could help with that if required.

I can also help with tasks such as…

  • Specialist pruning and training, including formative pruning of young trees – important to help achieve a strong, healthy well-shaped plant.

  • Choosing plants and seeds suitable for you & your garden.

  • Advising on the general care & management of your garden.

  • Advising/mentoring your gardener in areas they might be less experienced with.

  • Practical gardening coaching & tutorials

My background

• During many years in horticulture, I have led the development of an exciting range of gardens, both high profile and private – in particular, the renown plantings at The Cotswold Wildlife Park, during my 22-year tenure as Head Gardener.
• I have also made notable contributes to the evolvement of The Lost Gardens of Heligan, London Zoo, and the public parks of my hometown Falmouth
• I have regularly been invited to judge at prestigious horticultural shows such as the Journees des Plantes de Chantilly - an international plant show near Paris. And judge show-gardens and plant exhibits at various Royal Horticultural Society shows such as Chelsea, Hampton Court, Malvern, and Tatton.
• These experiences have helped me develop an extensive plant knowledge, and a keen eye for design and detail.
• Since moving to Dorset in 2020 I have helped shape the progress of Lulworth Castle House – a lesser-known garden gem of Dorset, and have risen to the challenge of making the most of our ‘compact’ Poundbury plot,
•I have derived great pleasure and satisfaction from working in wonderful gardens, with a diverse range of plants, and interacting with many interesting people. I still enjoy discovering new gardens and plants, and helping others make the most of their gardens, of whatever size.

Town Gardens

Although many plots in towns are compact, they can still offer exciting and colourful opportunities.
